Katherine Hayles is a distinguished Research Professor of English at the University of California, Los Angeles and James B. Duke Professor of Literature Emerita, Duke University. She wrote How We Think. Digital Media and Contemporary Technogenesis (Chicago University Press, 2016). We wanted to exchange about the shift from deep attention to hyper attention, the role of digital technologies in this regard, and the role that education could play in preserving attention.
